The 6mm to 4mm reducer connections for terrarium rain system allow you to varying the pressure pipe size to optimize the flow rate and make better use of the pump performance. In spraying installations, the pipe diameter has a great influence on the pressure loss: as a general rule, using a larger diameter main pipe (e.g. 6mm) helps the pump to work with less restriction, and then reduce to 4mm near the nozzles allows for a more comfortable and orderly distribution in the last sections.

This type of mounting is especially recommended when you have several nozzles, long lines or large terrariums, as keeping the “trunk” of the installation at 6mm usually gives a more constant and uniform spray.

✅ Why use 6mm→4mm reduction?

With a reducing connection terrarium rain system you can:

  • minimize pressure losses in the main line

  • improve spray stability when multiple nozzles are present

  • cleaner organization of the circuit (thin branches only at the end)

  • retrofitting existing installations without changing the entire pipe

🧩 Two ways of mounting to maximize performance

Option 1: main line in 6mm + reduction near nozzles

The most common strategy: you take the pressure tube in 6mm through the main run of the terrarium (or several terrariums) and just before each nozzle you reduce to 4mm. This helps to maintain better pressure along the line and simplifies the final routing.

Option 2: use T 6-4-6 for a more “pro” set-up”

Another very efficient option is to use directly T 6-4-6. With this part, you keep the complete rain line in 6mm (input and output of the T) and you only use one short length of 4mm from the central bypass to the nozzle.
Advantages:

  • the main circuit maintains maximum performance

  • the branch to the nozzle is short and easy to manage

  • better flow balance in installations with several nozzles

💡 Tips for a more stable system.

  • If the installation is long or has many nozzles, prioritize 6mm in the main line.

  • Keep reductions and joints as close as possible to the nozzles to avoid choking.

  • Periodically check lime/sediment: a clogged nozzle can make the rest spray worse.
